  • The West Virginia Library Commission provides statewide databases to all libraries with funds from the West Virginia State  Legislature and the Library Services and Technology Act administered by the Institute of Library and Museum Services.

An Electronic Database is a reference resource that is available on-line.

Library Catalog Databases
Using Interlibrary Loans

No library can purchase every book its patrons want, so libraries cooperate by providing loans to one another.  This loaning of books from libraries outside of Fayette county is called Interlibrary Loan.  You can look for the item using the suggestions below, or you can ask your  librarian how an Interlibrary Loan (or ILL) can work for you!    With all of these databases, when you find the item,  you must ask the librarian to order it for you.  There is no procedure for self ordering interlibrary loans.

You can also search for library items through the Mountain Library Network WebOPAC.  This database includes all items from 32 libraries in 19 counties in southern West Virginia.    This database is easily accessible as it is the same webOPAC that we use to search for our own books in Fayette County.  To use it, click on the down arrow beside Fayette County Public Libraries and choose ALL MLN LIBRARIES.   If you find the item ask your librarian to order it for you.  You may not put holds on other library's books.
