Job Title:  Bookmobile Driver

Job Type: Full-Time 40 hours a week

Salary and Benefits: $25,000 a year, health insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, vacation, and sick leave

Education & Experience Required: High School Diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, the job drives the bookmobiles and assists the other Bookmobile driver at schools and community stops and also fills in at the other branch libraries in the county. The library has a mid-size and a large bookmobile that serves Fayette County.

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Driving the bookmobile and assisting on the bookmobiles.
• Delivering materials to homebound patrons and to the other branch libraries in the county
• Work at the branch libraries when needed and on short notice
• Provide reference, adult, and juvenile services
• Maintains computerized patron accounts; prepares and issues library cards
• Maintains knowledge of available materials and patron reading preferences, especially at school stops
• Maintains familiarity with various technologies, including our online catalog, digital devices, Microsoft Windows, Internet, and email
• Assists in organizing library materials on the Bookmobiles and at the branch libraries, which includes shelving and shifting
• Assists with library programming as assigned
• Interacts appropriately with patrons and staff and adheres to library guidelines and procedures
• Provides quality customer service

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

• Must have a valid West Virginia Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance to drive the bookmobiles. May be required to obtain a Class D driver’s license to drive the larger bookmobile
• Knowledge of adult, children, and young adult literature
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
• Able to work independently and with others
• Able to work a flexible schedule, which will include some evenings and Saturdays. May be required to drive the bookmobile in parades and attend festivals throughout Fayette County.
